A Kenyan living in the United States of America, known as Benson, has made a courageous decision to return to Kenya, expressing dissatisfaction with the draining nature of American life.
Despite achieving considerable success in the US, including holding prestigious jobs and acquiring property, Benson feels compelled to escape the relentless pursuit of wealth and prioritize his family and social life.
Benson has lived in the US since 2011 and engaged in various professions, including serving in the US army and working in the corporate sector.
“I have been here since 2011. I have done many types of work. I have served in the US army for four years and was deployed to Afghanistan, I have worked in the corporate world, in fact, my last job was paying me $12,000 per month
(Sh. 1.6 million) and on the side I have my own businesses,” he said.
Despite a high-paying job and investments, he feels unable to fully enjoy them due to the overwhelming demands of work and a lack of time for family and leisure.
Benson noted that the US offers numerous opportunities to make money and build wealth, but it lacks the space or capacity for the type of social and family life that he craves, which he believes is more attainable in Kenya.
He emphasized that his decision to return home is not solely about financial considerations but about reclaiming a sense of balance and happiness that he feels is missing in America.
With a desire to escape the rat race and embrace a more fulfilling lifestyle, Benson plans to leverage his experience and investments in real estate to venture into property management in Kenya.
He believes that by investing in his home country, he can create a better future for himself and his family while also contributing to the local economy.
