A 24-year-old young man was found hanging from the roof of a rented house after what was described as losing a significant amount of money in a lottery game.

According to NTV Kenya, the young man was said to have made this drastic decision after losing up to one hundred and twenty thousand shillings in the popular bird fluttering gambling game known as ‘Aviator’.

Before his death, the young man named Kipkorir was employed to run an M-Pesa shop in the town of Kericho.

It is reported that he used business money to try his luck and lost his stake in all the games.

Speaking to NTV over the phone, the deceased’s nephew said the deceased asked his friend to take care of the shop for him as he went to do several errands in town and would return soon.

“We tried several times to contact him but he wasn’t answering his phone,” said his nephew.

According to the police report, he did not leave any message before taking his own life.

The body was removed and taken to the morgue of Siloam Hospital awaiting autopsy examination
