Joseph Mwadulo, a 17-year-old student at Chavakali Boys High School who tragically lost his life in a fatal road accident at the Mamboleo Junction in Kisumu County on April 1, 2024, will be laid to rest today, Friday, April 12.

His mother, singer Mary Wangari Gioche, popularly known as Kareh B, revealed on Thursday evening that the late teenager will be buried in Embu County.

The funeral program will commence at the Kenyatta University mortuary, where mourners will gather at seven in the morning before proceeding to Embu.

“We will lay him to rest tomorrow (April 12). We will bury him in Kimangaru, Embu. We will meet at the Kenyatta University mortuary at half-past twelve in the morning to allow people time to arrive. We will depart from there at half-past one in the morning,” Kareh B said during a live fundraising session with gospel musician Karangu wa Muraya.

The Mugithi singer disclosed that many students from Chavakali Boys High School will be among the mourners attending the burial in Embu.

She stated that the students have vowed to attend the funeral dressed in their school uniform to pay respects to the fallen “soldier” who unfortunately left them.

“The students from that school (Chavakali) will come. They say they will come dressed in uniform because they say Joe was a soldier, he was a hero, and he died in uniform. That’s why they are coming in solidarity because of such things,” she said.

The artist also hinted at concluding the funeral proceedings early to allow people to leave, as there will be many children at the event.

On Thursday evening, musician Karangu Muraya successfully mobilized a large number of online users to contribute funds towards the funeral expenses of the late Joseph Mwadulo.

During the fundraising session, Kareh B revealed that they had already completed part of the funeral preparations but noted that there were still many issues awaiting resolution. She disclosed that the funeral budget was upwards of Ksh 2 million.

Kareh B’s son, Joseph Mwadulo, lost his life on April 1, 2024, after a bus transporting a group of Chavakali Boys High School students home was involved in an accident at the Mamboleo Junction in Kisumu County.
