Kenyan TikToker Roseline Otieno, popularly known as Nyako, has achieved a remarkable milestone by clinching an award at the prestigious 2024 Marwa Music Awards.

The event, held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on Monday, March 11, bestowed upon Nyako the title of Comic Content Creator of the Year.

Nyako’s victory elicited a mix of surprise and pride from her brother, Wajakoyah, who shared his thoughts on her achievement during an interview with local media at the awards ceremony.

Reflecting on Nyako’s comedic flair since childhood, Wajakoyah admitted to being pleasantly surprised by her win, acknowledging her natural talent for humor.

“This award I can’t say much about it because I dont know what the organisers realised in my sister…She’s such a comical lady all along from her childhood. For this category, I can’t say much about it because for me it is a surprise,” he said.

The Marwa Music Awards is designed to celebrate and uplift talented artists within the Luo community.

The second edition of the awards attracted a host of dignitaries, artists, and content creators from the region, further emphasizing its significance in promoting cultural heritage and artistic talent.

Notable attendees at the event included Ida Odinga, the wife of Raila Odinga, and Ezekiel Mutua, the head of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK).

Her manager, Chinedu, who attended the event, commended Nyako for her remarkable qualities, describing her as not only a talented artist but also a compassionate and inspiring individual.

“I’ve seen her from a different perspective. She possesses a kind heart, is philanthropic, remarkably forgiving, and truly the best boss anyone could ask for,” he expressed.
