In a distressing turn of events in Bungoma County, a 40-year-old man surrendered to authorities on Saturday, March 30, following the brutal killing of his wife in their matrimonial home.

The incident unfolded amidst a marital conflict between the couple, with the wife returning from her grandmother’s burial in Misemwa village.

Reportedly, the confrontation between the two escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in the wife’s tragic demise.

Upon discovering the gruesome scene, the suspect’s brother promptly alerted authorities from Mbakalo Police Station.

Authorities found the lifeless body of the victim with grievous wounds to her neck and head.

Subsequent investigations uncovered a panga, suspected to be the murder weapon, at the scene of the crime. The suspect, identified as the perpetrator, later surrendered himself at the police station and was taken into custody for further questioning.

in another news, a police officer in Laikipia County died by suicide after shooting himself in the chin at his residence.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 29, at the Magutu police post, according to authorities.

Constable Andrew Miranyi Gati was discovered deceased in his home after self-inflicting a gunshot wound.

Police reported that Gati used his G3 rifle to shoot himself in the left chin, resulting in a fatal injury as the bullet exited through his left ear. Nineteen bullets were recovered at the scene along with the firearm.

The body has been transported to the mortuary pending autopsy and further investigation, with authorities yet to determine the motive behind the act.

Unfortunately, this tragic event is not isolated, with at least three suicide cases involving police officers recorded monthly.
