Safaricom Shop Owners Lock Themselves Inside, Leaving Security Guard Outside as Police Deploy Teargas and Fire Shots

Safaricom shop dealers are facing significant criticism after a viral video showed them locking their staff outside during the ongoing anti-finance bill protests today.

The incident occurred along the busy Kenyatta Avenue, where two Safaricom shop dealers were seen securing themselves inside their premises, leaving their security guard exposed to the chaos outside.

The video, widely shared on social media, has sparked outrage among Kenyans.

The security guard was left to endure the teargas and gunshots as police attempted to disperse protesters and prevent further destruction in the town. This has led to widespread condemnation of the shop dealers’ actions.

“What angered Kenyans is that the security guard was left to brave the teargas and gunshots while the shop dealers locked themselves inside,” one commentator noted. A man in the video can be heard saying, “Can you guys imagine, there is a security guy outside, and the two guys have left their security guard to endure the teargas out here.”
