Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has come out to claim that IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati’s declaration of William Ruto as president-elect is null and void. Speaking on Tuesday, Raila said that Chebukati has no absolute power over other commissioners.
Chebukati, while announcing the results on Monday, claimed the commission braved serious intimidation, including the arrest of some staff at the national tallying centre.
According to The Star, It has emerged that Chebukati was held up in a room where he sent some worrying messages to one of her relatives revealing he felt threatened.
IEBC chair declared Mr Ruto the winner of a closely fought election after garnering 50.49 per cent of the vote against Raila Odinga’s 48.85 percent.
