Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to vacate State House so as to enable renovations that will pave way for the next occupant.

Waiguru, a former political ally of President Kenyatta but not a staunch supporter of Ruto, argued the Head of State should vacate the house on the hill for the same reasons Ruto is being asked to move out.

Media reports indicate the government will soon ask Ruto to vacate his official residence in Nairobi so as to occasion renovations in readiness for the next tenant.

“If that (read Ruto’s vacation) is the case, we request for the vacation of State House for renovations to prepare for the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya,” said Waiguru.

President Kenyatta and DP Ruto’s ten-year term of office expires on August 9, 2022, when Kenya heads to the polls.

Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga are considered front runners in the race to replace President Kenyatta.

Waiguru has experienced an eventful political career which includes surviving an impeachment motion against her in the Senate.

She has also been consistently accused of engaging in corruption during his tenures as Kirinyanga governor and Ministry of Devolution. Some of these cases are currently subject to investigation by the relevant authorities including the Ethics and Anti Corruption (EACC).

Waiguru spoke in Nairobi on Tuesday, during the signing of the Kenya Kwanza Coalition agreement.
