As thousands of students anxiously await the release of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, allegations of covert activities involving some rogue secondary school principals have emerged.
Reports suggest that these principals have been frequenting the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) offices at Mitihani House, sparking speculation about potential interference with the examination process.
Sources claim that private meetings between principals and KNEC officials have been taking place, raising questions about the motives behind these interactions.
“Something strange is happening at KNEC with the KCSE results. Principals from various schools are making regular trips to Mitihani House, and there are rumors they’re trying to exploit the confusion to manipulate the system in their favor.” An anonymous tip shared.
These claims come at a critical time when public trust in the integrity of national examinations is paramount.
While no concrete evidence has surfaced, the reports have fueled concerns about the fairness of the examination process and the credibility of the upcoming results.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba had earlier announced that the 2024 KCSE results would be released in the second week of January.
Speaking at a cultural event for the Abagusii community at Kenyoro Mixed Secondary School in North Mugirango, Ogamba reassured the public that the results would be announced in the traditional manner, maintaining transparency and fairness.
The Education CS also highlighted his ministry’s readiness to ensure a smooth transition for Grade 9 students next year, emphasizing that classrooms are being prepared to accommodate the new cohort.
However, Ogamba avoided addressing the ongoing university lecturers’ strike, stating he is still seeking updates on negotiations with the National Treasury regarding their salary increment demands.
