In a shocking incident from Indonesia, a 45-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his neighbor after being repeatedly questioned about his marital status.
The suspect, identified as Parlindungan Siregar, reportedly confessed to the crime, citing deep hurt over his neighbor’s persistent inquiries about why he was still unmarried at his age.
The incident occurred on July 29 in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. The victim, 60-year-old Asgim Irianto, a retired civil servant, was assaulted in his home by Siregar without warning.
Despite efforts by local residents to rush Irianto to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries before receiving medical assistance.
According to Assistant Police Commissioner Maria Marpaung, the tensions between Siregar and Irianto had been brewing for some time.
The two men had an ongoing dispute over their chickens, which frequently wandered into each other’s yards, leading to mutual taunting and arguments.
This long-standing issue likely exacerbated the hostility between them, ultimately culminating in the tragic attack.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack, as the community grapples with the aftermath of the senseless violence.
In a related development, a 77-year-old woman in Migori County, Kenya, collapsed and died shortly after stepping out of a vehicle to relieve herself. Although passengers attempted to take her to a hospital, she died upon arrival. The cause of death is suspected to be an underlying medical condition, prompting further investigation by local authorities.
