In a tragic turn of events, Deus Tumusiime, a sales manager at Hajji Bashri Company in Kampala, was discovered dead in a hotel room under mysterious and grim circumstances.
According to Wamala Regional police spokesperson, Ms. Rachel Kawala, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 9 am. Tumusiime had checked into room B2 on Friday evening.
Witnesses reported that later in the evening, he returned to the hotel with an unidentified woman. Hotel staff noted that the two appeared to be intoxicated, shouting loudly before eventually retiring to their room.
The following morning, around 8 am, Tumusiime ordered breakfast to be served in his room. However, hotel employees grew concerned when they heard groaning sounds emanating from the room.
A cleaner’s attempt to check on the situation was met with a woman’s voice from inside, assuring them that everything was fine.
Shortly thereafter, CCTV footage captured a woman dressed in red and brown leaving the hotel alone, raising further suspicion. Alarm bells rang when Tumusiime’s company driver contacted the hotel management, reporting that his manager was not answering his phone.
Hotel manager Resty Namuli proceeded to room B2, knocking on the door but receiving no response. Upon peering through the window, she was met with a gruesome sight: Tumusiime’s body lay naked, blood stains evident on the pillow, bed sheets, and mattress cover.
Police investigations revealed that Tumusiime had been strangled with his own shirt, which was tied tightly around his neck.
His face bore bruises, and blood was oozing from his mouth and nose, indicating a violent struggle. Inside the room, Tumusiime’s wallet and notebook were found on the table, but his phone was conspicuously missing.
