Morine Aringo, a Kenyan designer who was recently embroiled in rumors of a romantic relationship with prominent lawyer Steve Ogolla, has finally set the record straight.
Aringo broke her silence to address the claims that had spread like wildfire on social media, with many suggesting that she was dating Ogolla, who is married to Cebbie Koks.
The allegations came after photos of Aringo surfaced online, prompting speculation about her connection with Ogolla.
However, Ogolla chose not to respond publicly, and Cebbie remained silent, although she hinted at being aware of the situation. Social media users, on the other hand, were quick to react, with some accusing Aringo of being a homewrecker.
In a candid statement, Aringo expressed regret over the entire episode, acknowledging her role in fueling the rumors.
She revealed that she had experienced severe emotional distress in the past few days, including panic attacks and nightmares, due to the widespread speculations.
Aringo took full responsibility for her actions, admitting that her jokes about being involved with the lawyer were inappropriate and had crossed boundaries.
“I’m sorry I made jokes about ‘kuanguka na wakili.’ I shouldn’t have, and I’ve learned this the hard way. I never intended for things to escalate this far,” she said, referencing the Swahili phrase that loosely translates to “falling for the lawyer.”
Aringo clarified that there was no truth to the rumors and that her comments were made in the heat of the moment, without considering the consequences.
She stressed that she has always respected the institution of marriage and has never intended to hurt anyone, especially Ogolla and his wife.
The designer concluded by asking for forgiveness and patience, stating that she is not dating Ogolla and will no longer continue any form of friendship with him.
“I’ve learned a painful lesson and I sincerely apologize to everyone affected,” Aringo said.
