Erick Omondi Under Huge Criticism After Transferring Fred Omondi’s Body from Nairobi to Sega Mortuary in Siaya

Renowned comedian Erick Omondi is facing significant backlash after transferring the body of his late brother, Fred Omondi, from Nairobi to Sega Mortuary in Siaya County.

The move has sparked a heated debate, with many fans and fellow comedians, including Peter Ouma, popularly known as Onjiri, criticizing Erick for what they perceive as an insensitive decision.

Fred Omondi tragically passed away on Saturday, June 15, following a fatal accident involving the boda boda he was riding on and a Forward Sacco bus near the Caltex Petrol Station at around 6:00 a.m.

The news of his untimely death sent shockwaves through the comedy community and his fan base, who were eager to pay their last respects.

In a heartfelt video circulating on social media, Onjiri expressed his dismay at Erick’s decision to move Fred’s body to their village in Sega.

He argued that this action deprived Fred’s Nairobi fans of the opportunity to mourn and honor him properly.

“Fred was bigger than the morgue,” Onjiri stated, emphasizing Fred’s popularity and the love his fans had for him in Nairobi. He implored Erick to reconsider, saying, “I want to ask Eric Omondi, what are you afraid of? When your elder brother died, you took him to the village and buried him after only two days. What’s wrong? Now you have transferred Fred Omondi’s body to Sega. No disrespect, but let me tell you, Fred Omondi is way bigger than Sega Morgue.”

Onjiri’s passionate plea highlighted the logistical and financial difficulties Fred’s Nairobi fans would face if they wished to travel to Siaya for the burial.

He pointed out that many of Fred’s fans might not afford the journey, thus denying them the chance to pay their last respects.
