Five people were shot dead by police during a protest in Angata Barrikoi, Kilgoris Constituency, Narok County.
The protestors had taken to the streets to oppose what they claim is the illegal grabbing of 10,000 acres of ancestral land by President William Ruto and former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai.
The affected communities, who have reportedly lived on the land since independence, clashed with police after officers disrupted the demonstration and opened fire, escalating the situation into violence.
