Bradley Marongo, also known as the “Gen Z Goliath,” is on the brink of securing a new job opportunity after meeting Westlands Member of Parliament (MP) Tim Wanyonyi.
Marongo, who became an internet sensation during the Gen Z-led anti-government protests in Kenya, recently met with the lawmaker in a bid to explore opportunities that could empower him and other young people in his community.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Tim Wanyonyi took to his official X account to share the news of his meeting with Marongo, asking Kenyans for ideas on a project that could help uplift the young man from Kangemi, Westlands.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP expressed his commitment to providing young people with the necessary support and opportunities to build their futures.
“I hosted Bradley Marongo aka ‘Gen Z Goliath,’ who hails from Kangemi in Westlands constituency. We are empowering our young people with the opportunities and support they need to build their future. Mnaona tupatie Bradley Mradi Gani?” Wanyonyi stated on his X account.
Marongo’s rise to fame began in August 2024 when he shared his journey from Majengo in Vihiga County to Nairobi.
“My friend Mose, who works with one of the buses plying the Nairobi-Western region routes one day told me that he was an upcoming artiste shooting some of his music videos but was yet to make it into the mainstream music scene, asked to come with me to Nairobi,” Marongo revealed in an interview with a local TV station on Friday, August 16, 2024.
Asked how he fit in a bus which is designed for individuals with average height, Marongo revealed that he sat on the floor mat along the aisle towards the driver’s side.
“Nilikaa na yeye (Mose) hapo mbele kwa mkeka. (I sat on the mat on the bus floor),” he narrated.
In addition to his meeting with MP Wanyonyi, Marongo has already begun monetizing his newfound fame. He recently secured a lucrative deal with a motor vehicle dealer in Mombasa, and his rate card for social media engagements and event appearances reflects his growing influence. Marongo charges Ksh50,000 for Instagram reels and TikTok videos, Ksh20,000 per hour for live TikTok sessions, and Ksh100,000 per day for event appearances.
