Raila Odinga secretariat’s spokesperson Makau Mutua has hit out at the United Democratic Alliance party over low voter turnout in Kiambu region.
Makau, a staunch supporter of the ODM boss was keen to note that only 5,678 out of 1,1820,920 registered voters in Kiambu County turned out to vote in the UDA gubernatorial primary which was reportedly won by Hon Kimani Wamatangi.
Makau, who expressed confidence that the Azimio Team will carry the day said the former Kiambu Governor Babayao and the Tujibebe party boss Hon. William Kabogo will now battle it out against the Gatundu Mp Moses Kuria and James Nyoro.
”ONLY 5,678 out of 1,1820,920 registered voters in Kiambu County turned out to vote in the UDA gubernatorial primary won by senator Wamatangi,” Makau tweeted.
Meanwhile, Kiambu County Senator Kimani Wamatangi will fly the UDA ticket in the Kiambu governor race after winning the nominations.
Wamatangi won in 10 out of the 12 sub-counties in the county with 68,786 votes against MP Patrick Wainaina Wa Jungle who garnered 50,446 votes.
The final tally in sub-counties was as follows; In Githunguri sub-county Wamatangi garnered 11,343 votes while Wainaina got 5,870 votes. In Gatundu South, Wamatangi got 4,318 and Wainaina had 5,090 votes. Wamatangi got 11,087 votes in Limuru sub-county while Wainaina got 5,790.
11,591 voters cast their votes for Wamatangi in Lari sub-county and 5487 for Wainaina.
In Gatundu North, Wamatangi had 5,615 votes and Wainaina got 10,911 votes.
The voters’ turnout in the county was low.
Other nominees for the UDA ticket were former Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Eric Muturi.
