The current ongoing moves across the political divide in the country have moved from bizarre to now just plain absurd. It began with the president backing the opposition, followed by the Deputy President forming an opposition party. This opposition party has recently been supporting one of its opponents to be picked as the running-mate for their main rival. It has now gotten more crazy as the other side is also now backing one of the DP’s closest allies to be picked as running-mate. All in the backdrop of reports that Tharaka-Nithi senator Kindiki Kithure may have bagged the coveted price.
Just hours after the Deputy President seemed to throw his weight behind Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Coalition running-mate contender Kalonzo Musyoka, Raila Odinga’s Press Secretary Dennis Onsarigo typed a post arguing that Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua is a better running-mate compared to Tharaka-Nithi senator Kindiki Kithure. Onsarigo declared that it would be wrong to pick Kindiki after having raised the hopes of voters from the Mt. Kenya region so much.
Alluding to the financial assistance that Rigathi has apparently offered, Onsarigo said Rigathi deserves to be picked. His tweet read,

In the earlier tweet by the DP, Ruto said that while the former Vice-president is his competitor, he is a distinguished personality and shouldn’t be subjected to the humilation of having to attend a vetting panel before being considered for the position of a running-mate. His tweet read,

Kalonzo Musyoka and his Wiper Democratic Movement camp have not only been bitterly opposed to the idea of their party leader having to face a vetting panel but have also unequivocally declared that if Kalonzo isn’t picked as Raila’s running-mate then they may reconsider their support for his presidential bid.
