Michael Macharia Njiri, commonly known as DJ Brownskin, is a well-known Kenyan DJ who gained popularity for his claim to have coined the famous Kenyan slogan “Lamba Lila Lolo” that became a hit in entertainment joints. Brownskin explained that he created the phrase as his own sound effect for his music mixes, and it quickly became popular, leading to his rise to fame. He even turned the slogan into a brand from which he sells merchandise.
Brownskin has entertained various entertainment joints in Kenya and gained international recognition, having performed in countries such as Dubai. However, controversy struck when a video of his wife’s death resurfaced on social media, leaving Kenyans with mixed reactions for his alleged behavior during his wife’s final moments.
According to reports, Brownskin’s wife, Sharon Njeri Mwangi, died after allegedly consuming poison on July 29, 2022. The video making rounds on social media, allegedly taken by the DJ himself, shows the deceased having a conversation while taking something in a cup as someone records her actions. She then sits on the couch in apparent discomfort as a male voice calls on ‘auntie’ to give her milk, presumably to dilute the poison. After some time, one of their kids enters the room, only to find his mother lying on the floor, fighting for her life.
“I’m done. Tell my kids and people I love them,” Brownskin’s wife is heard mumbling in the video.
The video has left many Kenyans with mixed reactions, with some accusing the DJ of being insensitive and negligent during his wife’s final moments. Brownskin is yet to address the allegations, leaving many of his fans and followers wondering what really happened.
