Uganda are through to the next round of the 2020 FIFA U20 women’s world cup qualifiers after defeating neighbours Kenya 3-1 in the return leg played at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The Ugandan side under the tutelage of Ayub Khalifa storm the third round with a 10-3 aggregate having won 7-2 at the Nyayo stadium.
Margret Kunihira opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Kenya equalized through Peris Oside’s well taken penalty after a Sharlyene Opisa was brought down inside the area by Hadijah Nandago.
With six minutes remaining to the end of the first half, Hadijah Nandago made amends and bagged the second goal for Uganda off a Sumaya Komuntale well taken-corner kick to restore Uganda’s lead .
Uganda continued to dominate the game after the restart, wasting several chances in front of goal before Juliet Nalukenge closed the scoring with a stunning free kick in the 90th minute after she was fouled at the edge of the box.
Uganda will face winner between South Africa and Mozambique at a later date.
