Mali crush woeful Kenya 5-0 in World Cup qualifiers

Harambee Stars suffered their first defeat in Group E match as they lose 5-0 to Mali in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers played at Stade Adrar in Agadir Morocco.

Adam Traore gave the Malian an early lead with a brilliant finish before Ibrahim Kone bagged the second goal on 21 minutes after a defensive mishap by the Harambee Stars backline.

Minutes later, Kone scored the third goal after Kenya’s defense failed to deal with traore’s corner in the 34th minute.

Kone then bagged his third goal and fourth for the match from the spot kick, sending Harambee Stars Custodian Ian Otieno in the wrong direction after Moussa Djenopa was brought down inside the area by substitute Abdalla Hassan.

After the breather, Ibrahim Shikhalo, a second half substitute, send the ball into his own net after Moussa Doumbia’s shot hit the upright to complete Kenya’s worse lose over a decade.

The win takes Mali top of the group with seven points followed by Uganda who beat Rwanda 1-0, with five points as Kenya drops to third on two points.

Rwanda remains bottom on a point.
