Shocking revelation as DP Ruto’s camp now blame DCI after Sankok’s son death
Deputy President William Ruto’s camp has now blamed the Directorate of Criminal investigation (DCI) for playing politics in Nominated MP David Sankok son’s death.
Memusi Sankok, 15, allegedly shot himself dead with a gun last week.
“We want to ask the agency to be empathetic with this family since they are having a hard time,” Gachagua said.
“Losing a son at this young age is very traumatic. The family has done everything needed…postmoterm has also been done and investigations concluded on cause of death.”
Speaking after condoling with the family of Sankok on Saturday, Gachagua said as much as the investigations were not clear, the DCI should allow the family to mourn their child.
“DCI should give them time and only come back after the burial. Subjecting the family to recording many statements is inhuman,” he said.
“We urge the DCI to exercise understanding and let them bury their child in peace. Let the officers exercise professionalism.”
Sankok was grilled for the second time on Thursday over the death of his son in Narok County.
Detectives went to record a further statement from Sankok over what they termed as ‘inconsistencies’.
The team has so far recorded statements from at least 10 people including Sankok, his wife, children and workers.
“It was as they went through the statements they detected inconsistencies hence the need for clarification,” police said.
The probe file will be sent to the Office of Director of Public Prosecution with various recommendations for action.
This comes as the focus has shifted to the ballistic analysis of two guns belonging to Sankok following the death of Memusi.
Police took his shotgun and Ceska pistol found in the house for analysis and examination.
Meanwhile, the burial arrangements for the late Memusi Sankok, son of nominated MP David ole Sankok, which was scheduled for Tuesday have been postponed to an unknown date.
Narok East Member of Parliament Ken Aramat says that the burial committee will on Monday decide on an alternative date for the sendoff.
The development comes a day after detectives were forced to record another statement from nominated Sankok following inconsistencies in the initial report over the death of his son who is alleged to have killed himself.
This is after it emerged that the lawmaker has two guns and not one, as previously thought.
Officers from the homicide department have also been dispatched to Narok to help their local counterparts in piecing up the last moments of the 15-year-old.
The team has so far recorded statements from at least 10 people including Sankok, his wife, children and workers.
An autopsy conducted on the body revealed that Memusi died of a gunshot to the chin that exited through the head.
The teenager will be buried on Tuesday the 10th at their rural home in the Melili area, Narok North Sub County.
The Committee organizing the burial has appealed to the members of the public to refrain from politicking his death.
Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri, a member of the committee says it is painful for the family to see politically instigated messages posted on social media platforms in relation to the death of the high school student.
