A man in Luweero, Uganda, is facing prosecution for allegedly conspiring with his mistress to hire a medical doctor to kill the mother of his four children through a medical procedure. According to local news reports, Mr Friday Musoke and Ms Enid Kanyonyozi approached Dr Onesmus Bainomugisha, offering him Ush.5 million to carry out the murder.
However, the doctor recorded their conversation and alerted the authorities. As negotiations continued, he passed on information to the Luweero District Police Commander, who eventually contacted the Police Flying Squad. Musoke was arrested shortly after picking up the substance he intended to use to render his wife unconscious.
During the trial, Bainomugisha told the court that he acted professionally and felt a deep pain to save the life of the mother. He knew that if he turned the suspects away, they might find alternative means of executing their mission since they were already determined to have the woman killed.
The court documents showed that Kanyonyozi had delivered the first instalment of Ush.500,000 to the medical centre on December 29, 2022. The next day, Musoke called the doctor to inform him that he was picking up chloroform to render his wife unconscious and transport her to the hospital for the procedure.
