Shock as Ruto’s UDA senator “goes missing” months after August polls

After being sworn in on September 8th 2022 , Nakuru senator Tabitha Keroche is nowhere to be seen. In the house or outside parliament the first time senator has gone missing from the political field leaving many with questions on where she might be.

Having replaced Susan Kihika , Tabitha’s silence is so loud as many compared to other members of the senate.

Elsewhere, Electoral commission vice chairperson Juliana Cherera has resigned, days after being suspended from office by President William Ruto.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) vice chair becomes the second of the four besieged commissioners who were set to face a tribunal on their conduct following a parliamentary vote and the formation of a Justice Aggrey Muchelule-led team.

Commissioner Justus Nyang’aya was the first to call it quits on Friday, hours after President Ruto formed the tribunal.

Ms Cherera and Mr Nyang’aya are among four commissioners including Irene Masit and Francis Wanderi who will remain out of office pending investigation by the tribunal expected to submit a report and its recommendations in 30 days.

In a letter to the President, Ms Cherera said she quit because “my cumulative actions done in good faith are unfortunately misjudged and misinterpreted.”

“It is with immense woe that today I tender my resignation as commissioner and vice chairperson of the IEBC. Since joining the commission, I have dispensed my duties diligently, meticulously, and put up a spirited effort in helping IEBC deal with corporate governance issues under very difficult circumstances,” Ms Cherera said.

These actions, she said, had been misinterpreted.

After rigorous campaigns and politicking , some of the politicians took a breather and stayed away from active politics to rewind and refresh. The senator could be doing just that but 3 months is a long time.

She went viral immediately after elections after asking the president to add the senators a kitty saying the senate position had no kitty unlike the national assembly, she later clarified the statement saying she was only looking out for young unaccomplished politicians.

“I have taken up this Senate job and I have found out that there is not even a small fund one is given. I need to traverse everywhere, from Kuresoi South to Kuresoi North, to advise the governor on value addition matters,” Keroche said earlier
