She pledged to prioritize women’s empowerment by ensuring access to funding, skills training, and mentorship programs.

Her vision resonated deeply with the attendees, who praised her understanding of the challenges faced by women at the grassroots level.

“Women are the backbone of every home and community. When we come together, nothing is impossible. My goal is to ensure that every woman in Busia has a voice, opportunities, and resources to thrive,” Apopo said.

The women’s groups expressed confidence in Apopo’s leadership, vowing to support her efforts as she seeks to represent Busia County in the 2027 elections.

Following the meeting, Apopo joined residents of St. Alungori Village in celebrating a significant milestone – the 100th birthday of Mama Esther Abigael Oundo, the mother of Senior Chief Marline Oundo of Nambale Township.

The celebration brought together community members, leaders, and business residents who gathered to honor Mama Abigael’s century of life, wisdom, and resilience.

Apopo paid tribute to the elder matriarch, emphasizing the importance of recognizing senior citizens’ contributions to shaping strong and united communities.

“Our elders carry the wisdom and values that guide us. Celebrating Mama Abigael today reminds us to cherish and learn from their experiences, as they are our pillars of strength,” Apopo remarked warmly.

The atmosphere was filled with joy and gratitude, with Mama Apopo engaging closely with residents, sharing stories, and reinforcing her message of unity and togetherness.
