Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has hit out at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga saying he should come out and declare if he will be in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Wanjigi, who has declared interest to vie for presidency in the 2022 General Election, also took issue with the party’s decision making organ to discipline him for opening parallel ODM branches across the country.
“Our party leader (Raila Odinga), if he is going to declare his candidature for the presidency, is a player just like me. He cannot be chairing meeting where another player is being issued with threats and warning,” he said.
Wanjigi, who spoke in Mombasa on Saturday, at the start of his tour at the coastal region, further said said that ODM is not a one man show and therefore Odinga cannot dictate the direction in the party must take.
“He (Raila) cannot be the referee, the linesman, captain and is still a player, and Video Assistant Referee (VAR). That is impossible,” he said
He reiterated that he will not leave the party saying he has invested heavily and expect free and Fair party primaries.
