As eyes now set on the 2027 general elections, Timothy Dennis Namatsi has stepped forward to challenge the political status quo in Butula Constituency, announcing his bid to unseat the incumbent MP Joseph Oyula.
Namatsi, a respected community mobilizer and development advocate, says his entry into the race is driven by a desire to deliver accountable leadership and meaningful development.
His campaign is focused on infrastructure improvement, education support, and transparent use of public funds.
“Butula deserves servant leadership that listens and responds to the needs of its people,” Namatsi said while addressing residents during a forum in Marachi West. “We cannot continue recycling the same approach and expecting different results.”
At the heart of his agenda is the proper utilization of Constituency Development Funds (CDF), with a pledge to revamp bursary allocation systems to benefit more needy students.
Namatsi has vowed to champion fair and timely disbursement of education support, particularly for orphans and students from underprivileged backgrounds.
“We have bright young minds in Butula who only need a chance,” he stated. “No child should drop out of school because of KSh 5,000 in school fees.”
Namatsi is also prioritizing infrastructure, especially the rehabilitation of feeder roads to improve access to schools, markets, and health centers. He believes better connectivity will open up the constituency to economic growth and improve daily life for residents.
In addition, his plan includes investing in youth and women’s empowerment through training centers and enterprise support programs.
“Our youth need skills. Our women need capital. I will work to make sure they get both,” he added.
While public meetings have not been consistently held by the current leadership, Namatsi pledged to hold quarterly town hall meetings if elected, to ensure public participation in decision-making and to promote transparency in CDF project implementation.
“These meetings will be an avenue for residents to voice their concerns, suggest development priorities, and hold leadership accountable,” Namatsi said.
“This is not just my journey — it is our journey as a constituency. Leadership is not about titles; it is about responsibility,” he emphasized.
While incumbent MP Joseph Oyula remains largely silent on defending his seat, Namatsi’s growing popularity among youth and professionals is gaining momentum.
