In a bold political maneuver on Thursday, July 11, President William Ruto dismissed his entire Cabinet, citing the need for alignment with the country’s latest developments.
This sweeping decision, which spared only Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, has sparked varied reactions across the political spectrum.
Among the voices emerging in response is that of Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, who has not only supported the president’s decisive action but also advocated for the reappointment of former Interior and National Administration CS Kithure Kindiki.
Karen Nyamu took to Instagram to express her approval of President Ruto’s move, commending him for his willingness to listen to the people and take necessary actions.
“Of all the skills of leadership, listening is the most valuable. You spoke, and the president is executing one action at a time,” Nyamu wrote, emphasizing the importance of responsive governance.
Nyamu’s endorsement of Ruto’s decision, however, came with a significant caveat.
She urged the president to reconsider reappointing Kithure Kindiki, highlighting his energy and exemplary zeal as critical assets for the nation.
“Mr. President, if you do anything for the sake of Kenya and our common good and future, you know your number one supporter. I wish that gentleman Kindiki Kithure could be put to good use. We still need his energy and exemplary zeal,” she added.
Kithure Kindiki, known for his firm stance on law and order, had recently assured the public of stringent measures against rogue police officers and unlawful abductions.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, July 9, Kindiki emphasized that no infractions by law enforcement would go unpunished, underscoring his commitment to justice and human rights.
President Ruto’s decision to dissolve his Cabinet marks a significant shift in his administration.
The immediate former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale expressed gratitude for his tenure, reflecting on the responsibilities and trust placed upon him by the president.
