Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has once again taken on One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals claiming that they are not serious contenders for the presidency in the next year’s elections.
Atwoli claimed that unlike their competitors for the top seat – ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William – the OKA principals have not taken their campaign serious.
According to Atwoli, DP Ruto and Raila are the most serious contenders to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
“Some people are running away with the votes and you are still undecided, you will wait forever and stay there. They should be where Raila and Ruto are. There is a huge distance between them,” Atwoli said.
Atwoli further cautioned some OKA principals against appeasing DP Ruto in a bid to support his presidential bid. He said that their move would derail their chances of landing the presidency should they run for the country’s top seat.
“Nobody is listening to them. Nobody wants to be associated with beggars or breakups,” he added.
The Cotu boss further claimed that some principals within the alliance have started seeking sympathy from the electorates by attacking President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila.
He specifically pointed figures at ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi for attacking the president and allegedly challenging his recent State of the Nations Address.
“Why are they challenging President Kenyatta? He does not want to be re-elected. Why are you wasting time on him instead of announcing your presidential bid and competing with Raila and Ruto?” Atwoli posed.
