The newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Wycliffe Oparanya, has vowed to resign if the Kenya Kwanza government disregards his recommendations.

Speaking on Sunday during a church service in the Western region, the former Kakamega County governor noted that President William Ruto’s government sought him out, asking for his help in running the country.

He made it clear that he is willing to assist the government, but only on the condition that they heed the strategies he proposes.

“They have looked around and seen that this elder can help with the work. I will help them, but if I tell them to go this way and they refuse, I will withdraw and go back to my home,” he said.

The veteran politician emphasized that when someone asks for help, they must be willing to accept assistance.

“You must accept to be helped. But if we are there together and you act like a know-it-all, we will have a problem,” he stated.

Oparanya’s sentiments come just days after he, along with 18 other Cabinet Secretaries, was sworn into various ministries.

These Cabinet Secretaries, who were appointed after President Ruto reshuffled his cabinet, took their oaths on Thursday morning at State House.

On Wednesday, Members of Parliament in the National Assembly approved their appointments, except for Stella Langat, who was nominated to the Ministry of Gender.

Those sworn in include Aden Duale (Environment), Kithure Kindiki (Interior Security), Alice Wahome (Lands), Alfred Mutua (Labor), Salim Mvurya (Trade), Justin Muturi (Public Service), Soipan Tuya (Defense), and Kipchumba Murkomen (Sports).

Others are Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport), Rebecca Miano (Wildlife and Tourism), Debra Barasa (Health), Migosi Ogamba (Education), Andrew Mwihia (Agriculture and Livestock Development), and Eric Muuga (Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation), Margaret Nyambura (ICT), John Mbadi (National Treasury), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy), Hassan Joho (Mining), and Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives).
