Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has spoken out after meeting with ODM leader Raila Odinga just days after his removal from the Cabinet.
The meeting was held at Raila’s Capitol Hill office in Nairobi.
Kuria took to X to share his reflections on the meeting, expressing his gratitude for Raila’s willingness to join the government of national unity and emphasize dialogue as a tool for resolving national issues.
He praised Raila for his commitment to the country’s stability, stating, “I thanked Baba for bending backwards—yet again—to save the country from self-destruction.”
The former Cabinet Secretary underscored the importance of moving beyond superficial solutions to address Kenya’s deep-rooted challenges.
“We were unanimous that going forward, we cannot continue to prescribe Panadol where surgery is required,” Kuria remarked, calling for comprehensive and structural reforms as the upcoming national dialogue process unfolds.
Kuria expressed his intent to collaborate closely with Raila and other leaders committed to change, signaling a readiness to embrace new political dynamics.
Raila Odinga has long been an advocate for national dialogue, seeing it as essential to solving Kenya’s pressing issues.
He recently endorsement of a government structure that includes four ODM members nominated to the Cabinet—Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, John Mbadi, and Opiyo Wandayi.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto has also voiced his support for a government of national unity, acknowledging that the recent youth protests have highlighted the need for more inclusive and representative governance.
Ruto has called on all Kenyans to support this vision, recognizing that the era of divisive politics must come to an end.
