Lawyer Miguna Miguna has cautioned former State House Digital Director Denis Itumbi of repercussions if he lied concerning the fake letter alleging a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.
This is after the Milimani chief Magistrate Martha Mutuka placed Itumbi and his co-accused Samuel Gateri on his defence after the prosecution proved it’s case against them.
“Having analyzed the evidence before court I find that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubts to warrant the accused to be placed on their defence,” the Magistrate ruled.
On his Twitter page, Miguna said itumbi should be ready to take responsibility and face the consequences that comes thereafter.
“Avoid technical copouts, confront the challenge head-on. Use the open court platform to broadcast the the audio evidence you claimed to have. ‘Expose the assassination plot’. Use the court to do politics. If you lied, fall on your sword,” Miguna said in a tweet.
According to the charges sheet, the two, on or before June 20, 2019, published a letter dated May 30, 2019 with intent to cause anxiety to the general public.
The suspects were linked to an alleged assassination letter involving the Deputy President.
Detectives, who sought the help of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), said the letter was drafted at a cyber Cafe in Langata area, Nairobi.
