In the wake of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki’s unexpected dismissal from the Cabinet, his brother, Professor Jonah Kindiki, has opened up about their private conversation.

Speaking during an interview on KTN News, Jonah provided a rare glimpse into the immediate aftermath of the political shake-up that saw President William Ruto remove several high-ranking officials.

Jonah Kindiki, without delving into the intricate details of their exchange, shared that he reached out to his brother to offer support and consolation.

“Yes, those are family matters. We need to distinguish between a brother and a Cabinet Secretary. I told him ‘pole’,” he stated, using a Swahili term that conveys sympathy and condolences.

Jonah emphasized the importance of separating personal connections from professional responsibilities, particularly in times of political turmoil.

This distinction, he suggested, is crucial for maintaining both personal and professional integrity.

Despite the personal setback for his brother, Jonah Kindiki expressed admiration for President Ruto’s decisiveness.

He lauded the President’s bold move to overhaul the Cabinet, interpreting it as a sign that Ruto is attentive to the concerns of the Kenyan public.

“The President’s actions show that he is listening to the people,” Jonah noted, commending the administration’s responsiveness to public sentiment.

However, Jonah also speculated on the potential reconstitution of the Cabinet, hinting that merit might play a significant role in any future appointments.

“Looking at our political space, some of the people who were in the Cabinet and were ineffective will have no room to survive. If one of them is to be reconsidered in the next Cabinet, merit will count,” he asserted.
