Former House speaker Francis Ole Kaparo has inched closer to bidding bye his United Democratic Party (UDA) boss William Ruto.
Kaparo, who was the chairman of Ruto led- United Democratic party, which was among the 13 parties that folded to form Jubilee ahead of the 2017 general election, made the announcement on Monday during Raila’s regional consultative meeting in Kajiado.
He claimed that Odinga was honest and had the interest of the Maasai Community at heart, hence drumming support for Mr Odinga in the race of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Even if i am not a member of ODM or Jubilee party, let me tell you the truth, the man Raila cannot harm the masaai community,” said Kaparo.
Also present at the meeting were Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko, Narok senator Ledama Ole Kina among others.
The former chairman of the National and Integration Commission backing will bolster Raila’s quest for presidency, hence, giving hopes for his team to reap big from the Maa Community.
In the last one month, the ODM boss has held meetings with his allies from the Coast, Nyanza, Western and Central as he gears up for a fifth stab at the presidency.
Last week, Raila meet political bigwigs from Western as he moved to firm up his bastions ahead of 2022 polls.
He also meet leaders from Central Kenya and parts of Rift Valley counties in a scheme to deflate Ruto’s influence in the regions.
