Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has welcomed Deputy President William Ruto to Ukambani to look for votes amid calls for the two to unite.

Speaking at a church function over the weekend, Kalonzo said that Ruto was welcomed in his political backyard to campaign for his 2022 general elections.

The former Vice President, however, maintained that the DP must account for the handouts he gives to the youths in his rallies.

“They are welcomed here (Ukambani) even if they visit the region a hundred times. They must, however, remember that they will account for the monies they give out since we all know the salaries of top government officials,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo’s statement comes at a time when DP Ruto is said to trying to lure him to his side. Ruto, on Sunday, reached out to Kalonzo and his partners in the OKA coalition to team up with him ahead of next year’s general elections.

Ruto asked Kalonzo and his co to his said so that they can work together in transforming the country.

“We are ready to partner with those who believe in our agenda,” Ruto said.

“If they are ready, let them come and work with us. Our priority is investing in projects that will create jobs for the youth,” he added.

Ruto’s allies led by MP Ndidi Nyoro also urged Kalonzo and OKA principals to join their side and shun President Uhuru Kenyatta’s attempt to force them in supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“Do not bow to the pressure of working with Raila. Press on and ensure that you stick to the wishes of the people,” the Kiharu MP said.
