Jubilee MPs Tasks IEBC to Disqualify ODM Aspirant Imran Okoth Over Kibra Chaos

Speaking at a church service at PCEA Emmanuel Church in Makina on Sunday 13 October, a section of Jubilee Members of Parliament tasked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to disqualify the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) flag bearer in the upcoming November 7 Kibra poll Bernard Otieno Okoth Popularly known as Imran Okoth.

The Jubilee MPs strongly condemned the barbaric attack on the Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga as he was campaigning in Kibra on Saturday, October 12 and called for IEBC to take drastic action against those involved.  

Kimani Ichung’wa the Kikuyu Member of Parliament and his Lang’ata counterpart Nixon Korir accused Dagoretti North Member Parliament Simba Arati of inciting youths to stone the Jubilee aspirant Mariga’s campaign convoy.

MP Ichung’wa further urged all the candidates and their supporters not leaving political parties to maintain and preach peace in order to allow the Kibra constituents to elect their preferred candidate.

Kikuyu MP also warned the Kieleweke nominated MP Maina Kamanda to stop spreading propaganda and that President Uhuru Kenyatta is not supporting Mariga.

MP Korir said that he will personally write to IEBCto disqualify the ODM aspirant Imran Okoth over the violence adding the ODM leader Raila Odinga is in the government courtesy of ‘Handshake’ hence they are free to ask for votes anywhere and handshake did not come to do away with democracy.
