Wiper Democratic Movement Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has today Wednesday August 25, 2021 been summoned by the officers from the Directorate Of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The former vice President earlier today arrived at the DCI Headquarters to honour his summon by the Investigative body to clear his name over claims that he illegally acquired his Yatta farm land.
The former National Super Alliance principal arrived at the DCI’s Kiambu Road headquarters in the company of his legal team led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and his Makueni counterpart Mutula Kilonzo Junior among others.
This is the second time the One Kenya Alliance principal has been summoned this year, appearing before the authorities over the same issue.
Earlier this year in January, Kalonzo appeared before the authorities in the company of his lega team and other Wiper Democratic Movement Officials to prove his innocence over land grabbing claims.
The former DP also piled pressure on Deputy President William Ruto to also appear before the authorities to shed light on land grabbing claims lodged against him recently around Nairobi area.
The wiper leader defended himself over the claims by the second in command alleging that he illegally acquired the 200 acres of land belonging to the National Youth Service in Yatta, Machakos County Ukambani area.
The Wiper leader challenged the the DCI and the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission to carry out a lifestyle audit on him to establish the sources of his wealth.
“I am today presenting myself for a thorough investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations as well as the Anti-Corruption Commission. I want the matter settled once and for all,” Kalonzo stated at the time.
Kalonzo went on to term the claims as wild and desperate propaganda, describing himself as a person of “high moral and ethical standards.” while distancing himself from the claims.
“I have nothing to hide and I challenge the authorities to open an investigation into this matter. I am today presenting myself for investigation by the DCI as well as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission,” Kalonzo said.
Through his lawyer Senior counsel James Orengo, the former DP noted that Deputy President William Ruto had committed criminal liability by linking him to the Yatta land grabbing.
“You are not allowed to defame anybody in this country on the basis of falsehoods, lies or incitement. He (DP Ruto) has also committed the offence of uttering false information designed to cause disaffection and hatred,” Orengo stated
This comes in the wake of public outcry against the Investigative authorities of being used by a section of politicians to harass and intimidate some leaders allied to given factions in the Country recently.
