Ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of The Nation address in the Senate later today, new details have emerged on who will attend the session.
Reports which Kenyan Report could not independently verify indicate that Tanga Tanga lawmakers will not be in the house.
A well-placed source who opened up on the intrigues behind the session stated that not all will be in the house, hinting that Tanga Tanga lawmakers will pull a no-show.
He stated that only 24 Senators will attend the session stating that “Tanga Tanga Senators are not invited in the chambers.
Kithure Kindiki who is a staunch DP Ruto supporter will however attend the session.
It remains unclear how many Senators will attend the session and if the current Covid-19 pandemic could result in a significant reduction in the number of those attending.
The session comes in the wake of rising political tensions emanating from the BBI.
The last few days have seen increased political activities with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga meeting lawmakers in Naivasha to drum up support for the document.
The Naivasha meeting was snubbed by Tanga Tanga MPs who have are opposed to the BBI report and have called for further dialogue and changes.
Odinga has been holding meetings with various groups to build consensus that would eventually result in a non-contested referendum.
He however ruled out the possibility of any significant changes on the document even as DP Ruto continues with his anti-BBI rhetoric founded on propaganda that the document is intent on creating positions for politicians, including Raila Odinga.
Tanga Tanga lawmakers were conspicuously missing during the unveiling of the document at the Bomas of Kenya.
