Outspoken Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria set the Internet ablaze with his hilarious comment praising how the outgoing Zambian President Edgar Lungu and President elect Hakainde Hichilema relate after elections.
Taking online on his official Facebook page, Kuria expressed his happiness at the level of maturity displayed by the two leaders in Edgar Lungu accepting the yesterdays Presidential results and transition.
Coining his congratulatory message from his recent outfit Chama Cha Kazi, to the two leaders Moses went on to poke holes oh how the same takes place in some other African Countries.
In what appears as a message to the Kenyan scenario where ODM supporters vandalized the railway line in 2007 after the election results, Kuria praised the smooth transition without vandalism.
“Outgoing President President Edgar Lungu with incoming President Hakainde Hichilema. What a blessing for Africa ! Smooth transfer of power after acceptance of results bila kun’goa reli. Gentlemen, accept heartfelt congratulations from Chama Cha Kazi in Kenya.” Wrote Moses Kuria.
The message comes years after Raila Odinga supporters in disagreement with the election results vandalized the Kenya-Uganda railway in protest over the presidential results.
Opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema stunned people by securing a landslide victory in the just concluded Presidential election, beating the incumbent Edgar Chagwa Lungu yesterday.
The Zambian Electoral Commission noted that Hakainde had garnered a total of 2,810,777 votes against Lungu’s 1,814,201, with all but one of the 156 constituencies already counted.
“I therefore declare that the said Hichilema to be president of Zambia,” electoral commission chairman, Esau Chulu, said in a packed results Centre in the capital Lusaka.
Among the first leaders to Congratulate the President-elect on his landslide win is the Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga who also thanked the Zambian people for making their voice heard.
“I take this earliest opportunity to congratulate my friend Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party of National Development (UPND) of Zambia for the decisive victory in the presidential election. Amidst an unprecedented public health challenge, the Zambian people have made Africa proud for conducting a successful election.
A free, fair, credible and verifiable election always certainly return the will of the people. It is my hope that this election strengthens the democratic life of your Zambia, brings more prosperity to the people and reminds fellow Africans elsewhere that nothing is impossible. I wish you the best of luck in the days and years ahead.” Wrote Raila Odinga.
