Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has threatened to take Citizen TV and K24 TV to the court of law following the alleged video reportedly taken at Sabina Joy Hotel in Nairobi Town if they don’t apologize.
According to several media houses, the Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata reportedly logged into the Senate conference meeting While in a club claimed to be Sabina Joy located in Nairobi CBD.
This issue elicited mixed reactions from a section of Kenyans with several people accusing the lawmaker of showing a bad example and lacking moral values
The outspoken Murang’a lawmaker has, however, come out to defend himself claiming that the video that surfaced online was edited to tarnish his name after the Star Media house sent an apology to the senator stating that they had shared an edited video.
Taking to his Twitter handle page, the lawmaker responded to the Star post where they apologized to him demanding other media houses to follow suit if they meet in court.
“Citizen digital, Kamene fm and K24 should follow suit otherwise we meet in court for a suit seeking hefty damages awaits,” Irungu Kang’ata posted.
Reports by the Star indicated that the media house through their post sent an apology to the Senator for allegedly sharing an edited video that is claimed was created to taint the lawmaker’s name.
Reports by the Star further indicated that the actual video does not have any Sabina joy hotel voices as portrayed in the edited video, prompting the former Senate Majority Chief Whip Irungu Kang’ata to demand an apology from Citizen TV, K24, and kamene FM or they meet him in Court of law.
The Star media house went ahead and posted the original video that they claimed was manipulated.
“We apologize for a video posted of Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata logging in to Senate proceedings allegedly from Sabina Joy, we have since established that the video clip was manipulated and this is the original one,” reads the Star post.
