Uhuru’s company stays strong on Kang’ata brothel allegations as others apologise

When news of Irungu Kang’ata’s alleged rendezvous at Sabina Joy where he was rumoured to be enjoying the company of voluptuous and curvy seductive call girls first came to the surface, it spread like wildfire as different media houses joined in the fun. Sadly for the Murang’a senator, even fellow colleagues in the Senate took part in admonishing him, a development that brought to the surface just how deep the divisions among members in the upper house do run.

It was Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina who took to Twitter to blast Kang’ata for taking part in Senate proceedings from Sabina Joy, and used this allegation to criticize and deride the Bottom-up approach.
However, after Irungu Kang’ata issued a strongly worded statement that disowned the video clip that was going around, and provided what he claimed was the authentic clip, media houses began going easy on the Murang’a legislator.

His statement read,
Irungu Kang’ata
Kieleweke bloggers- no single drop of alcohol has ever passed via my mouth . That voice insertion into my today’s senate contribution is fake and false.The true question that I asked in Senate was about Muranga Farmers unpaid milk delivered to County Factory.

In the aftermath of the declaration by Kang’ata, The Star was the first to rush and issue an apology, but surprisingly, up to this point, K24 which is owned by Mediamax, a company associated with the president, is yet to apologise.

The apology by The Star read,
TheStarKenya
@TheStarKenya
We apologise for a video posted of Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata logging in to Senate proceedings allegedly from Sabina Joy, we have since established that the video clip was manipulated and this is the original one.

The apology by The Star on their daily publication was even more sensational, and bordering on comic as they sought to distance themselves from the entire debacle.
They wrote,
Fake news at it again; many Kenyans and some media outlets fell for it.
The viral video purporting that Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata attended Senate proceedings virtually while drunk is fake.
The video was dismissed by the senator.

The manipulated video showed what appeared to be the senator attending proceedings while at the infamous nightclub in Nairobi – Sabina Joy.
