President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolences to the family,friends and relatives of former Kwale County MP Zainab Kalekye Chidzuga.
Chidzuga died on Thursday while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
In his Message of comfort to the family of the former Women representative,the president described the departed as a steadfast leader and astute grassroot mobilizer who helped uplift the welfare of women in Kwale County and across the country through her main initiatives.
“I had recieved the sad news of the passing away of Hon Zainab Chidzuga with a heavy heart.The ugly hand of death has robbed our country of a highly influential grassroot mobiliser and leader who was a role model to many women.
“Mama Zainab Chidzuga was a passionate advocate of women empowerment whose many achievement as an activist,legistlator and mentor will continue shaping the gender agenda in our country for generations.”The president mourned.
The president wished the family of the departed leader God’s fortitude and comfort as they mourn their departed matriarch.
Deputy President William Ruto in his message of comfort said the country has lost a progressive and steadfast leader who was the chairman of women empowerment.
The late served as Kwale Woman representative fr 2013 to 2017,a possession she was elected to on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
prior to joining politics,Zainab served as the coast province treasure for the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organization,a position she hed for about two decaded.She aslo served as chairperson for Kwale District MYWO.
