Uhuru Will Endorse Gideon Moi Not Raila, KANU Leaders Declare

The country should prepare for a KANU leader Gideon Moi presidency beginning August next year, allies of the Baringo Senator have said.

Moi is seen as among those keen on succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta, even as pundits term him weak and less influential compared to his peers.

But his allies now say that he has all he needs to take over the seat his father held for 24 years and will most likely be forming the next government.

Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio has termed him the man to watch and the most likely to win Uhuru’s endorsement in the run up to the polls.

Speaking in Baringo on Sunday, he termed Moi a leader who has favour among the others and the most likely to win the endorsement of Uhuru.

“Our leader is one person who has so much favour among the others and when it comes to an endorsement he will be the one to get it,” he said.

His remarks were echoed by Tiaty MP William Kamket, who stated that everything points at the possibility of Moi being the fifth President of Kenya.

He said that it is now upon him to work hard and see to it that the KANU party bounces back to power.

“We are solidly in KANU and are not planning on leaving. We have jut began the journey and we urge our leader to work hard and bring the leadership back to KANU,” said the parliamentarian.

Uhuru is currently expected to endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga, whom he has reportedly being tying to rally Moi and his OKA co-chiefs behind.

On Friday, allies of Raila have also hinted that the two; Raila and Moi, are in talks and could soon unite.
