President Uhuru Kenyatta has led Kenyans in the mourning of ex-Kamkunji Member Of Parliament George Gregory Wilson Nthenge.
Nthenge,an independent eror politcian was a former cabinet secretary and businessman who passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 94 years.
In his message of comfort and encouragement to the family, friends and relatives of the former legislator,Uhuru said Nthenge was a devoted patriotic and an icon of kenya’s independence struggle who played an important role on the country’s political,social and economic growth.
“It is dishearten to learn of the passing away of Nthenge,one of our country’s few remaining independence eror politcians,freedom and architect of our second liberation,”he said.
“Mzee Nthenge was a highly respected elder statesman,pro-democracy agitator and mentor whose journey’s in life epitomized the rich political history of the Kenyan nation.”
Uhuru Said that Nthenge incubated a seemingly vast cohort of prodigious scribes,whose prolific contribution sustained freedom and accountability that has made kenya a strong democratic and prosperous nation.
The Head Of State prayed to God to give the family of Nthenge fortitude and strength as they mourn their departed patriarch.
Machakos governor Alfred Mutua Mourned Nthenge as one of the greatest leader Kenya has ever produced.
“I am sad to learn the passing of Nthenge.He survived tragedy and celebrated life.He is one of the greatest leader of Kenya.Rest in peace.”he said.
The late Nthenge was a member of LEGCO for the larger Machakos District in 1960.
He was one of the authors of Kenya first Constitution and the team that travelled to Lancaster to agitate for Kenyans freedom.
