UDA Members Encouraged To Challenge Ruto For The Party’s Presidential Ticket

Other aspirants keen on facing Deputy President William Ruto for the UDA presidential ticket have been encouraged to declare their interest and go for it.

Ruto and his allies have since repackaged the party from the PDR party and seek to use it to form the next government by securing the presidency in next year’s elections.

And while he appears unchallenged, he has announced that anyone who comes on board with an eye on the ticket will be given an equal chance like himself at the nominations.

Speaking at his Karen residence when he hosted leaders from Nakuru on Thursday, Ruto said that he is ready to face off with anyone also interested in his party’s ticket.

“Those who want to run against me, let them come out and declare their candidature, we will compete fairly and the winner will be given the ticket,” he’s quoted by The Standard.

His allies once again bashed the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government, accusing it of underperforming after focusing on less important stuff like fighting the DP.

Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba said that they want nothing to do with government, as it has failed and being associated with it will cost them next year.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah said that the government has wasted time it would have used to better the lives of Kenyans, warning President Kenyatta of tough times ahead.

“We wasted four years promoting and coercing Kenyans to rally behind the retrogressive Building Bridges Initiative. Now that we have 10 months to go, let the President attend to his legacy. Failure to do that, he will leave office a disgraced man,” he said.

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua claimed that all other leaders are scared of Ruto’s popularity, this being the reason why they are teaming up to fight him and his ambitions.

It is already in the public domain that Uhuru has been trying to rally the entire opposition brigade behind ODM leader Raila Odinga, after making it clear that he doesn’t want a Ruto government to succeed his.
