Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has demanded for the immediate resignation of Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
The fiery MP claimed that the long-serving Jubilee party secretary general had violated party agreement following their loss in the Kiambaa by-election.
According to a statement released by the Nyeri Town lawmaker, Jubilee leaders had agreed not to field any candidate in upcoming Mt Kenya by-elections until lessons learned from Kiambaa were fully implemented to avoid any embarrassing losses as was the case in Juja and Kiambaa.
According Wambugu,Tuju was among leaders who agreed with the recommendation only for him to make a U-turn, choosing to ignore the same and handing a nomination certification to an aspiring MCA for Kiagu Ward by-election in Meru County.
In his own words, the vocal lawmaker argued that Tuju’s decision to hand over the nomination certificate clearly shows that “he is no longer working in the interests of the Party.”
As a result, Wambugu has demanded that Tuju’s decision be immediately rescinded and he be allowed to leave Jubilee Party Headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi.
“…This decision confirms the fact that Hon Raphael Tuju is clearly completely disconnected from the #JubileeBase. It also lends credence to fears that Tuju is no longer working in the interests of the Party.
“In this regard and after consultations with those of us who continue to sacrifice #BloodSweatAndTears to revive our party, we have agreed that we will NOT allow #Tuju to deliberately kill our Party. Not while we watch… We also now accept that he #MustResign as Secretary General of the Jubilee Party, and vacate #JubileeHouse. We need someone who understands where we are as a party, and who is connected to the Jubilee support base, as #SG of our Party. Raphael Tuju is NOT that Person,” Wambugu posted.
