Troubled Ruto meets Mwangi Kiunjuri over The Service Party, DP ready to quit Jubilee

Deputy President William Ruto on Friday evening met officials of The Service Party at his Karen residence, a meeting which was also attended by former Agriculture CS and the party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri.

Reports indicate TSP belongs to William Ruto and he gave its formation a go ahead in 2019, when he funded the party’s inception and has currently opened offices in 8 counties across the country.

Initially, the party was named Liberation Party but that name was rejected by the Political Party register.

Ruto had hoped the party will be very popular in Mt Kenya within the first 6 months of its inception and he was to decamp to the party and quit the troubled Jubilee early next year.

However, things are not going to plans as TSP is very unpopular in the Mt Kenya region as well as other parts of the country. Yesterday’s meeting was to strategize and discuss the progress of the party growth in the country.

William Ruto has been willing to quit Jubilee Party but he has been advised not to until he has his own party.

In September, Kiunjuri said the country is not ready for another post-election violence, following scathing attacks DP Ruto men have been hurling towards President Kenyatta and his family. The Service Party leader who has been leaning towards DP William Ruto now said he was ready to sacrifice his ambitions for the sake of unity in the House of Mumbi.

“We are not ready for another post-election violence. I am willing to sacrifice my ambitions for the unity of the House of Mumbi,” Kiunjuri said, adding that the Deputy President must tame his warmongers.
