St John Ambulance CEO Albert Ruturi dies after hours in ICU

St John Ambulance CEO Albert Ruturi is dead.

According to reports privy to the news, the CEO passed at the Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday, November 24.

Confirming his death, Ruturi’s son Dr Joe Ruturi said that he had been ill for a week before he passed on.

Hours before his father passed away, Joe revealed that he was in ICU in critical condition due to a cardiac arrest caused by COVID-19 complications.

“My Father had a Cardiac arrest due to complications related to Covid-19. He is critical in ICU .

“I am numb but just finished a urgent thymectomy for Myasthenia Gravis in a young man . Now we pray,” the Cardiothoracic Surgeon tweeted.

While mourning Ruturi, President Uhuru Kenyatta stated that it is unfortunate that he died at a time when his services are highly required considering the health challenges posed by the Covid-19 health crisis.

“Ruturi has been one of the great Kenyans whose selfless service to mankind has saved the lives of many through the St John Ambulance service,” the president eulogized.
