Six people have lost their lives in a tragic accident involving a lorry and a 14 seater matatu that is claimed collided on Wednesday 25 August along Nakuru Nairobi highway.
Reports by Citizen television indicates that the Matatu was heading out of Nairobi collided with a lorry that was heading to Nairobi before the harrowing incident occurred.
It has been established that the accident might have been caused because of overseeing by the lorry driver who was heading to an undisclosed location before he lost control and landing on the lane of the fourteen seater matatu.
The driver of the matatu in an attempt to avoid a possible head-on collision tried to sway the vehicle out of the road but he didn’t succeed as the lorry was near and hit the matatu head-on leaving several passengers nursing painful injuries with six dead.
Reports have further revealed that out of all the passengers who were in the matatu, six of them are reported to have perished on the spot.
Police officers who arrived at the scene of the accident have launched an investigation into the incident to establish what might have caused the accident.
This happened at the time when the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has called upon all Kenyans to make sure they follow all the necessary rules, guidelines, and precautions while operating on the roads.
According to the NTSA accident statistics, the increased number of accidents are being caused due to reckless driving among Kenyan road users.
