Shocking details emerge over plans to extend President Uhuru’s term

New details have emerged over wrangles in the Jubilee party after its Secretary General Raphael Tuju issued a statement over its top leadership.

The ruling party has been facing numerous challenges over its leadership that has since witnessed the party sharply divided into two factions, one supporting DP Ruto and another one supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju has spoken about a plan to extend the term of President Uhuru Kenyatta as Jubilee party leader.

Tuju claimed that the top leadership of the Jubilee party had resolved to extend President Uhuru’s term as its party leader.

In his statement, the Cabinet Secretary without portfolio stated the leadership of the party still needs Uhuru’s passion to bring this country together even after his retirement come 2022.

“I want to state that there is consensus especially from those of us holding senior positions in the party that it still needs Uhuru’s passion to bring this country together, “said Tuju.

The Tanga Tanga wing of Jubilee party have rubbished the plot to extend Uhuru’s tenure as party leader noting that it is another scheme to block the DP from succeeding Uhuru.

However, some Deputy President William Ruto’s allies including; Members of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Nelson Koech (Belgut) and Senators Samson Cherargei (Nandi), Elgeyo Marakwet (Kipchumba Murkomen) have described the views by the Jubilee party top leadership as dictatorship.

This comes barely a month after DP Ruto and his allies were kicked out of the Jubilee party headquarters at Pangani and banned from using the premises to coordinate their political activities.
