About six months since former Women Representative for Nairobi Rachel Shebesh came out in an emotional revelation and shared with Kenyans her struggle with mental sickness, and appeared apologetic for the embarrassment she had caused he family, she has now come out to make a curious statement that seems to slight and ridicule her husband who continues to curiously fail making public appearances beside her.
Each time the CAS makes an appearance, her husband is never by her side, and although she has maintained that everything is okay between them, worries of whether Mr. Shebesh may be deliberately avoiding being seen with his wife are now emerging.
Appearing yesterday on Churchill Show’s the Journey Series, hosted by comedian Dan Ndambuki popularly known as Churchill, the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Public Service and Gender, while responding to a question on how many children she has, said that she has three boys, before casually adding that she actually has four boys, her husband included.
In the past Shebesh has been accused of not according her husband the necessary respect required, and instead embarrassing him in public with his actions. Although she constantly quotes her husband as one of those that have stood firmly and helpfully by her side through her political and health struggles, her husband has continued to maintain a protracted silence and absence in the entire issue.
Claims of Shebesh’s unfair treatment of her husband were compounded by alleged graphic photos of her and then Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, which appeared to depict the two in intimate positions and half naked. Though the said photos have since been dismissed by some of the interested parties as photo shopped, Shebesh herself has maintained a conspicuous silence on the entire issue.
All the same, this issue played a huge role in denting her political career, as voters considered this a sign that she wasn’t up to the task of a women representative.
